We're here to preserve a future for Skagit Valley's family farmers.
Yes, there are lots of great farm organizations in Skagit County. They all do a super job of what they are about and all are needed.
Skagit Family Farmers is a bit different. We're the Skagit affiliate of Save Family Farming. This state-wide farm advocacy group started in early 2016 for the purpose of countering the attacks on farmers. Specifically, the What's Upstream attack filled with false accusations, misinformation and, what looks to most, illegal lobbying. All funded by the EPA. So, we stood up. We complained. We sought state and federal enforcement of our laws against illegal lobbying and illegal use of taxpayer money.
What farmers across the state told us is that this kind of response to anti-farm attacks is needed all over the state. So we work with farmers in Whatcom County, in the Yakima Valley and in the Skagit Valley. We're not about lobbying, about simply telling all the good things that farmers do for our land, air, water and communities (let alone grow great food) – although that is important. We are focused on making certain when people or say or do things harmful to the future of our farms, we want to set the record straight.
